Book Review on The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Release date:September 27,2011
Publisher:Simon Schuster Children's Publishing
Pages:452

Summary: When a tragic event happens in Mara Dyers life and she wakes up in a hospital with no memory of the night, she thinks it can't get any worse. Only, it can. Mara believes that there must have been more to the accident that killed her three friends and left her mysteriously alive. There is. Now she thinks that because of all she has been through, she won't be able to fall in love. She's wrong.

Thoughts:  The unbecoming of Mara Dyer is an enthusiastic, thrilling book that no one will be able to get out of their head. I loved how this book made me get shivers down my spine and made me feel like someone was in my room and I was being watched. With all of the drama and thrilling moments, I couldn’t put this book down.
The plot in this book is compulsive and makes you feel like you’re just grabbed into the whole thing. When she has the flash backs and is talking about all that has happened to her. This book did give me the chills, especially when she “see’s” her dead friends. The author also made a seductive romance and amazing protagonist who has been through the unimaginable. Mara Dyer is a fantastic book that you will always have to pick up and read like every second of everyday until you finish the whole, darn book. Mara Dyer is just fantastic.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer brings together so many unique aspects and makes you have incredible thoughts and takes you on a wild ride. The most original part in the book that I found was when you found out that she was diagnosed with a “crazy” disorder and make her imagine her friends and what happened when they died. This part made the book completely impossible to put down.
The other character, Noah Shaw was your typical bad boy that everyone is warning the new girl about but she ends up falling for him anyway. Typical romance. The thing that drew you in about Shaw though, was that he was actually really nice and was a caring, loveable person who would be the last person that you would expect to be right by Mara’s side whenever he could be.
Another amazing aspect of this book was how humours it was even though this book was so serious. Mara and Shaw both show the hilarious sides of them and make you have a few laughing out loud moments. I was so happy when I finished the book and I was so happy that Hodkin was able to pull of putting humor into a serious book and also making everyone be biting their nails at the same time.
I also love the way that Michelle Hodkin wrote this book and she just completed the book making everything just right and I’m sure has made all of her reader’s happy and wanting so much more.
I would give The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer a 5/5 stars just because everything was put together so well and Michelle Hodkin came out with a BANG that is making me crave for the next book. Yes, there is a sequel called The Evolution of Mara Dyer coming out October 2012! I am super excited and I hope you are too!

Book Review for Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard
Release date:October 1,2006
Publisher:Harper Collins
Pages:286

SummaryFour girls, best friends. Only, there used to be five of them.

Three years ago, Alison DiLaurentis disappeared during a sleepover with her friends, Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna. Alison was the best of the best and now she is gone, just like that.

Now Aira is hanging out a bit to much with her english teacher, Spencer steals her sister's boyfriend, Emily is playing with some girls and Hanna is using some pretty dirty secrets to stay beautiful. When the girl's start getting text from -A, about their darkest secrets that only Ali knew. Now they re-unit and start to panic, get nervous and think to themselves, is Ali back?

Thoughts: Pretty Little Liars is the first book in a twelve book suspenseful series. I fell in love with this series before I even read the first page. The back of the book completely dragged me in and I couldn't wait to read it. The whole mystery suspense theme makes me crazy! I just love how everything fits with this book to. I mean Sara Shepard didn't over do it and just made the book perfect.
Pretty Little Liars really spoke to me, not like anything close to as horrible as that has happened to me but just the whole book moves me and makes me love it even more. The whole plot of the book is even fabulous and couldn't be better. Some authors make it so the book doesn't sound as good on the outside as it actually is but Pretty Little Liars is just amazing everywhere. No bumps in the road, just a smooth path all the way.
I found that Sara didn't leave any parts that made you bored and want to get to a good part, she told the story clearly and exciting all the way through. She did leave me hanging at the end of chapters, which I hate, but it's what makes a book good and makes you want to read on.
Sara Shepard made my life change. She made me think about everything a little bit closer and has me reading between the lines in her books to try and solve the -A mystery. I love how at the end of the books they're notes from -A which a friend of mine used to figure out who -A was because she took all of the characters and looked who applied to the clue. Also those last paragraphs of the  -A notes are always making me want to read the next book.
I do have to say my favourite character is Aria because she is so fragile and sweet but has this swagger of attitude when she needs to. My other favourite character is Spencer because she is smart and always thinking. She was always jealous of Ali because she was always mean and rude to the girls, even though she made them feel special and because Spencer isn't afraid to speak her mind. I do like Hanna and Emily but not as much because I find Aria and Spencer's chapters more thrilling most of the time but there are really good Emily and Hanna chapters.
I would definatly give Pretty Little Liars a 5/5 stars because it was so thrilling and made me read until I dropped/or finished it. I absolutely love Sara Shepard and can't wait to read more of her other series and books.

Rating: 5/5 stars
Recommended to people who like: Drama, mystery, suspense, romance, thriller, young adult(YA)

There is also a television based on the books, Pretty Little Liars which is really good, a bit different from the books but good. It is on Mondays at 8:00 pm on Much.

Book Review for Perception: Clarity book 2 by Kim Harrington

Perception by Kim Harrington
Release date: March 1,2012
Publisher:Point (Scholastic)
Pages:288

Summary: In the second Clarity novel, Clare is on another adventure after clearing her brothers name and finding the murderer and she still hasn't chosen Gabriel or her ex-boyfriend, Justin.
Soon, Clare starts getting notes from a secert admirer. The notes start getting more intense and Clare starts getting worried.
One thing is certain, Clare needs to figure out who her "secret admirer" is and fast because things are getting much, much worse.

Thoughts: Whoa! This book blew my mind, just like Clarity, Kim Harrington came out with a bang! I just LOVE all of Kim's books so far, or at least the Clarity series and just how she makes them so suspenseful with romance and drama. She can just work her writing! Again in Perception she gave you the same chill down your spine that makes you feel like when Clare is being watched, you're being watched to. I couldn't get that feeling out of my head! She just does such a good job with making you feel like you're in the book, literally.
Another thing that Kim Harrington does well at is writing her book's so that is easy for you to visualize the scenes and what is happening all the time. Also, what I hate but also love is how she is so good at making you want to read more and not letting you put the book down until you're finished. What she did at the end of most chapter's to was leave you hanging. She always left us off at such a good part and when I was reading at night and it got late I would put my book down and think about what's going to happen next all night and when I woke up, I would be like, I just have to read one more chapter. Which would change into like five more chapters. I was addicted to reading this one more then usual. Please tell me Kim Harrington, that you're going to write another Clarity book.
Just like Clarity, Perception had a beatiful cover and you could see more of Clare and her ginger hair. I do think Perception showed more of what they described Clare as. For in Clarity, her hair was all blurred and couldn't really see the true her. That is my opinion. I do adore the cover's so much though, they're so pretty!
As it stands, Clarity and Perception are one of the best books I have ever read. I would rate Perception the same as Clarity, 5/5 stars. Yet another one to! I do hope Kim Harrington comes out with another book to this series because they are amazing and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us in her next novel.

Book Review for Thirteen Reasons Why

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay AsherRelease date: October 18,2011
Publisher: Razorbill
Pages: 288

Summary: With everyone shaken from a recent suicide Clay Jensen returns home to find a box with 13 tapes in it. The thirteen tapes that Hannah Baker recorded before she killed herself and the thirteen reasons why she did what she did. Now if Clay listens, he will find out when and why he is on her list. What did he ever do to her?

Thoughts:
Thirteen Reasons why is a touching book with duel naratives by Hannah and Clay. This book was a heart-touching read and has a special place in everyone's life who has read this book. It shows you that bullying and being mean and rude hurts people. Sometimes enough to make them want to die and in some occasions, take there own lives. Thank goodness I have never experienced anything like this because, it can be heart wrenching. I think that Jay Asher did a perfect job of making you see that bullying is dangerous and should be taken seriously.
I think that this story was very sad and even brought tears to my eyes. I absolutely loved how you saw that Clay should his emotions unlike guys in almost every other book. When it came to Clay's tape you could tell he was struggling and it was hard for him to even bare to listen to her voice on the tape and when he first heard her voice, tears slipped out of my eyes.
I loved the way that Jay Asher wrote this book, with the tape's being read by Hannah and the book in Clay's perspective. It was just incredible! I can't wait to read more of him. He has a gift that only few authors really do have and I didn't really expect this book to be as good as it is. It really surprised me, I mean it saw at the book store many times and never really picked it up until one day when someone in my class was reading it and they said it was SO good and I though, what the heck, lets give it a chance and I am super glad that I did.
I would give Thirteen Reasons Why 5/5 stars because the plot was just so good and it made me feel so bad for Hannah even though she isn't a real character, I just felt so bad and to know that this kind of thing happens almost everyday, I think this book will help people realize that it is a problem. Anyway, I love this book and recommend everyone to read it.

Book Review for The Probability Of Miracles by Wendy Wunder

The Probability of Miralces by Wendy Wunder
Release date: December 8,2011
Publisher: Razorbill
Pages:360
Summary: Cam Cooper has spent the last seventeen years of her life in and out of hospitals and with cancer growing throughout her body, she has never lived a normal life, not for even one day. So with the doctors telling her she only has a month or two left to live, her mom packs them off and moves the family to Promise, Maine. The place where miracles are born and flamingo's, surprisingly stay. All Cam wants is to stay boxed in her room. Only then Cam makes a list of things to do before she dies. As she ventures through the town, checking things off the list, she dicovers that she may be starting to believe, in love, herself and even...miracles.
Thoughts: This book is a miracle. It was so good, heartbreaking, sad and probably the most beautiful book I have read so far this year.
When I first heard of this book I was itching to read it, I mean look at the cover. Then you read what it is about and you can't help ut want to buy it. This is the first book I have read about a girl with cancer and it really sold me to it. I actually want to read more sad books about people with disabilities and cancer. Any way, I think that the probabiliy of miracles is a wonderful read and I would like to read it again and again. There was a part though that reminded me of the movie Charlie St. Cloud and it was still an amazing and emotional scene but my mind kept going back to that one scene. Which I am not going to tell you becausse that could ruin this whole part of the book. Another great thing about this book is the gracious and delicate writing. Her writing just spoke to you during the reading of this book. When the character was hurt,it was almost like what she wrote had such strong emotions about being hurt and expresse the feelings of the character's very, very well and will be an author to keep your eye on, for this is her debut novel. I think she is one of the few authors that have their debut novels as a hit!
I think Wendy Wunder did an awesome job with this book and I know that many people have loved it and many want to read it! I would give The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder a 5/5 stars because this was just a well done book that I can't get out of my head and will be stuck in there for as long as I live.
Rating: 5/5 stars

Book Review for Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
Release date: December 23,2008
Publisher: Walker Books for Young Readers
Pages:360

Summary: Brittany Ellis is the perfect girl, but right when she walks into Chemistry class, her world is turned upside down. She is partnered up with the "gang boy" from the south end, Alex. Now he is going to threaten everything Brittany has worked so hard for-her perfect boyfriend, flawless marks and the secret that her life at home, that it is far, far from perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he know's it. He pay's for it. So when he makes a bet with his friends that includeds Brittany, he thinks it will be anything but hard. Only when Alex ventures deeper into Brittany's life, he realizes Brittany is a real person, with a real life. So as the bet gets closer to being over, Alex thinks he might not be able to do it, realizing that Brittany is so much more then she appears.

Thoughts: Well, what to say...It's was far from amazing, the flow of energy that you get when you read it and the way that the emotions make your heart flutter as if you haven't heard or felt it beat before. Perfect Chemistry did just that. There were the amazing, intense moments and then the mind blowing love scene's between the two main characters, Brittany and Alex. I also love the way that the names, just fit. Don't you guys imagine Brittany's as tall, blondes with the perfect figure and the amazing smile. You always just imagine them, well, perfect. Now the name Alex could have been either way but the way Simone Elkeles describes him, you can really picture the poor, scrawny Alex. With his perfect black or dark brown hair that flows just the right way which makes your heart melt and when you hear his sweet, charming voice that always has a little bit of sarcasm in it. Well, it's like music to my ears.
Anyway, I thought the book had every aspect I think a book needs to be great. Simone Elkeles put all of them in and mushed them together and made a terrific book. I am basically speechless about what to say, I mean no words are good enough to fit the amazingness that this book deserve's.
I think that Perfect Chemistry was just that, Perfect. I have nothing bad to say. I mean, even the writing was fantastic, like most authors. It all went together right and even made me have mixed emotions throughout the book. For example, sometimes I was crying when there was someone's heart being broken and I was thinking to myself, "How could he do such a thing!" That question ran through my head so many times. Also, there were when I was laughing from a lame joke someone said or even something just random and plain old funny!
As you can see, I did really enjoy myself while I was reading this book and cannot wait, to read the next two books in the series that are about Alex's younger brother go out onto adventure's to find love. Maybe even more forrbidden ones. Any way, I LOVED this book. One of my many favourites and I would rate it 5/5 stars. I want EVERYONE to read this book! It was so good and can't wait to read your feedback on it.

Rating: 5/5 Stars
Recommended to people who like: Romance, comedy and some fun juicy chick lit books.

Book Review on Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Release date:June 7,2011
Publisher: Quirk Books
Pages:352

Summary: A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs
.

In the beginning there is a tragedy in sixteen-year-old Jacob's family. As one of his promises, Jacob said he would travel to a remote island off the coast of Wales and takes on a Journey of a lifetime.
As Jacob discovers the ruins of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children, he explores abandoned rooms and a dark basement. As he continues to explore he finds out that these children may not have been just peculiar, but dangerous. They may have been placed on the deserted island for a good reason. And now, as impossible as it seems, they just may be alive.

Thoughts: I just loved this book. It was so different but so good. It was so thrilling just how the author mixed the photographs with the story, the photographs were also just so, so amazing and creepy at the same time...

Are those creepy or what! I couldn't get over how chilling the pictures where throughout the whole book! Evreytime I was looking through the book, I would always look for the picture pages and look and them and everytime I came across one, I would get the chills.
Another thing that is really amazing about this book is the cover. If you look at it the little girl is floating in mid air. The first time I looked at it I was like, there's a girl on the cover. Only as I looked at it closely, I saw that the girl wasn't standing, but floating. Creepy, right? Anyway, I just adore the cover and can't get over how creepy it looks. Also with the haradcover, the actual book, is so pretty because its read and have gold on it and there's a name on the cover writin in cursive and gold lettering. It is probably on of the most beautiful books I have ever read. It's just so beautiful. I do recommend people to buy this book and not borrow it from the library or someone because it is just on that you will want to keep on your shelf and have to re-read forever.
I also love the idea of this book and have no idea how Ransom Riggs came up with the idea. it is just original and like nothing you have or will ever read. Also with the photo's in it, where would you get an idea like that. Pure genuis! I just love Ransom Riggs so much and can't wait to read his next book!
So as you can see I loved this book so so so so so much! I give it a 5/5 stars. We were meant to read books, so I advise you all to read this one as soon as possible. I think this could be a book for everyone so go out, NOW! and get this book.

Rating: 5/5 stars
Recommended to people who like: Adventure, Drama, Suspense, Mystery and completely action packed books!

Please check out the book trailer for this book. I think it is amazing and will make you want to read it even more. The video is called, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. If you search that on youtube then the first video should be the one. (Note: This book trailer was not made by me)

Book Review on The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
Release date: October 18, 2011
Publisher: Scholastic Inc.
Pages: 409

Summary: It is always at the start of every November: The Scorpio Races. People ride on waterhorses and hope to hold on long enough to cross the finish line. Some riders live. And some die.
19 year old Sean Kendrick competes in the Scorpio Races and has one. Though, he doesn't compete for the money. He is riding for someone, getting the money for them. Because he has a gift. He can talk to the water horses and train them properly. He loves them.
Puck Connolly is different. She was never supposed to ride in The Scorpio Races. Only she is. She has to for her family and frankly, fait hasn't done anything else for her. So she is entered, The first girl to ever be entered. And now is getting prepared for whatever it throughs at her. She is ready and going to win.

Thoughts: I have really high expectations for Maggie. After reading her Wolves of Mercery Falls Trilogy, that is TO DIE FOR! It was amazing. So you see I have very high expectations for her. Anyway, The Scorpio Races did not exceed my expectations. It had a fairly slow start and by start I mean it didn't pick up until like the last 50-75 pages. So as you can see I wasn't that impressed. Now the premise of the book was really good, it almost reminded me of The Hunger Games but a bit less intense. I mean like a competion and raceing to not die. So I was excited to read it because I was like whoa!, this sounds really good! Only it wasn't that good. I found that she dragged on the training to much and just talking about some pointless and really boring topics.
There were the parts that were good and picked up for a page or two but other then that the story was dragged on. I thought that the races were going to start like quarter way to half way through but instead it started like 50 pages to the end and that was the only like good part.
The only part of this that was good all the way through was obviously Maggie's writing. If you have read any of her books then you know that see is like one of the best writers out there. It is the one thing that she always delivers. All the way through the book and in all of her books. Her style of writing is phenomenal and I just adore reading it. I will never, ever be able to get over it.
In conclusion I do say that The Scorpio Races was disapointing and will probably be my least favourite book by Maggie Stiefvater. I just wish she would have made it a bit more thrilling throughout the book and if she had I think it may have been a much, much better book. I would give The Scorpio Races a 2.5/5 stars because it was an amazingly writin book and had a good plot line but the story itself and how she dragged on the story was a real downer for me.

Rating: 2.5/5 Stars

Book Review of Clarity by Kim Harrington

Clarity by Kim Harrington
Release date:March 11,2011
Publisher: Scholastic (Point)
Pages:242

Summary: Clarity "Clare" Fern can see things, things no one else can see. She can see peoples secrets, the ones they want to keep buried. For others, well they think it is a gift but to her, it's a curse.
When a teenage girl is suddenly found murdered, Clares ex-boyfriend steps in and asks her if she will help find the killer and bring tourists back. Although Clare knows it will help, she is still furious with him, because he's a cheating, lieing jerk. Until Clare finds that her brother, Perry is now the top suspect and in jail. Clare now realizes she must help clear Perry's name and with the help of the new detectives son and her ex-boyfriend, the three of them set out to find the real killer. As Clare ventures deep into the world of mystery and crime, she starts taking risks, putting herself in grave danger and hopeing, that her gift will stay with her and not die out when she needs it most.

Thoughts: Mystery and suspense books are always three words, To.Die.For. Clarity did just that. I have not read a mystery book in, I don't know how long but reading Clarity reminded me how much I love them. Feeling the suspense and your heart beating so loud your ears feel like they're going to bleed. The adrenaline just rushes throught your veins and makes you want to scream and cry. Also when the character is going with someone or into a room that you know will be the end and you start to bit your nails so hard it feels like they're going to fall off. Don't you just love mystery books?
Kim Harrington did such a good job with this whole book. Right from page one she grabbed you in and you knew this was going to be an all time favourite book. Harrington keeps you holding onto your seat every page and sometimes even makes you fall. Literally. I think that Kim Harrington did an amazing job with everything. The writing, plot, story and even just how everything fit. She made the characters so, real. You can't even get me started on her writing. She wrote the story beautifully and she just well she just made it perfect.
I just loved how the story was so different and completely original and amazing. I couldn't put it down and made the book so thrilling that I thought my hear was going to explode before I got to finish the book. I would die if I couldn't finish it.( Not literally ). Just it  was that good and I don't know but it was just like something took over me and made me like a complete freak for the book and I couldn't believe how amazingly thrilling it was.
I would say Clarity is probably one of the best books, by far that I have read so far this year and will probably stick to being one of the best. I rate Clarity 5/5 stars.
